Listen To My Story
(By J. Daniel Lupton, 1984 [cf. Psalm 31])

Listen to my story of the providence of God,
How He weaves our faults and failures,
and all we do that's odd.
He guides His own unerringly
in spite of all we do,
The product is the life He planned,
   the glory He foreknew.

From the moment of conception,
encircled by His love,
Till the last breath is taken,
   naught forsaken from above.
Life has its moments when we wonder,
   question, "Was God there?"
That fork long ago taken,
"did God lead or did I err?"

Faith claims the answer
that fear well nigh casts away,
God is greater than our choices,
   though much weakness we betray.
If Satan with his forces,
can't deter God`s plan one trace,
Shall a confused but praying saint,
   God's best blindly erase?

My times are in thy hand, O Lord,
In Thee I place my trust,
   Deliver me from every fear,
   reward me with what's just.
For thy name's sake thou hast led me,
   pulled me from the net,
Today I'm given courage,
   for tomorrow no regret.
