LIFE RENEWED
By Nan Fox Robinson
The snow lay cold upon the ground,
And kept bound new life below,
Lovely flowers were held prisoner,
And streams no more could flow.
The trees withheld their blossoms,
Till the sun was near at last
And the gentle breath of springtime
Broke winter’s icy clasp.
Let the trees break forth with clapping,
Let the stars great praise intone;
New life is found as earth’s reborn,
The chill of death is gone.
My heart was frozen cold in sin,
And death my heart enslaved.
My soul was bound for the terror
And the slime of Hell’s dark grave.
Then Christ shed his love upon my heart
And broke the chains of sin.
And the radiance of His Holy Face,
Made me pure and warm within.
Let the golden bells of Heaven ring!
Let the angels shout with glee!
The King has defeated death again,
And set this captive free!
